PA Prayer Alert - November 2006

Posted by John and Kerry 10:59 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (0) | Trackback Trackbacks (128) | PA Strategic Prayer Network

Dear friends,

We have just returned from India.  There is much to accomplish in this nation, but God is working.  He is working all over the world to advance His Kingdom in advance of His return.  We must do all we can to be part of advancing His Kingdom in the wake of the opposition that will  come in these end times.  The Book of  Revelation makes  clear that effective  ministry will increase in unprecedented ways in the end times with multitudes too great to be counted coming to Christ (Revelation 7).  However, fierce opposition will also arise as we are seeing all over the world in places like the Middle East, India and the Sudan.  We must press forward forcefully by being empowered by the Holy Spirit like the church in the Book of Acts.

I will return to this in a little while, but I want to encourage each of you to vote and get as many Christians as you can to vote.  Above all pray that God will have His way in crucial elections highlighted by the Gubernatorial and Senate races.

It has been Kerry’s and my privilege for the last three years to serve with the US SPN, now the US Global Apostolic Prayer Network.  In recent days, we have increased out ministry in other states and outside the country.  As a result, we do not possess sufficient time to fulfill this important task.  As a result, we have contacted Chuck Pierce to let him know that we are resigning our position.  I will email one last time to let you know who Chuck appoints to this position so that you can contact that person if you want to continue to be part of the ministry.  We are blessed to have been part of this ministry and have met many wonderful people who will continue to be friends.  We are still interested in Pennsylvania and will continue to minister in the state as the Lord leads and opens meetings.  We are still available to minister in your churches and region. You may contact us at john@kquestministries.org or at 717-968-0766.

One key we would like to pass on is that the church must walk together in unity.  Tragically, the church in PA has been divided along ethnic and theological grounds.  We feel we can do this because there are so many churches. However, we must put these minor distinctions aside so we can fight our common enemy and so we can advance the Kingdom of God.  We do not have the luxury of going it alone.  Our society continues to spiral downward while the church grows in number and decreases in influence.  We must get it together.  This is not about us, it is about Him and His Kingdom. Please pray about this crucial issue and do what you can to walk in unity with other congregations. If we  can be of help, let us know.

Again, let me say that It has been a great privilege to serve you and our state these past years.  CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR REVIVAL IN PA.  IT IS OUR ONLY HOPE.

PA Prayer Alert

Dear Friends,

Recently, Kerry attended a conference in S Korea’s famed Prayer Mountain with 6600 other women, called by a Korean Pastor and Mrs Vonette Bright (co-founder of Campus Crusade for Christ) to pray for the world.  She obviously met some wonderful women and had amazing times in prayer.  However, she, and friend Anna Peachey, were impressed with a number of things:

1.      The passion of the Korean’s prayer lives.  They prayed so loud it was hard on the ears and they could keep up the intensity for a long time.

2.      The Koreans desire to take every aspect of their society.  Seoul’s Yoido Full Gospel Church, pastored by David Yonggi Cho, publishes the fourth largest newspaper in the nation, administers a benevolent ministry supported by the government, and has founded a university and ministry training school.  Their prayers are having a huge impact upon the entire nation.  Seoul has 8 of the 10 largest churches in the world including Yoido with its 800,000 members (I did not make a mistake in the number).  Yoido has 7 Sunday services filling their 12,000 seat sanctuary every time.  They have nearly 50,000 cell groups to care for their large membership.  All of this emerges from their amazing prayer ministry.  Half nights of prayer every night but Friday when they pray all night as well as people taking vacation to go to prayer mountain to fast and pray.

Let us pray that God would do a work in the fervency of our own pray lives so that we can impact our cities and our nation.

TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE SEASON

When I was a pastor, I always looked at this time of the year as the beginning of the year.  Our year seems to ebb and flow with the end of the vacation season and the beginning of school and college.  I looked at this time as start up time.  This means that many opportunities exist for effective ministry:

  1. Our children will be salt and light in their schools.  Many in the Politically Correct Camp feel that Church and State should be and have been effectively separated. However, every time a Christian student, teacher or administrator walks onto school property, the presence of God comes with them.  In addition, our students have the opportunity to tell their friends what is going on in their life and to invite them to church activities.  Our schools are a mission field waiting to be taken.
  2. Parents have the opportunity to connect with other parents through their children and their activities.  Back to school nights and other school activities provide a very relaxed atmosphere to build relationships.  Ask God to give you strong connections with those He desires you to minister to.
  3. Fall is a time when our unsaved friends, relatives and co workers will be most open to getting involved in activities such as a small group or a parenting class.  This is a great time to develop relevant ministries designed to capture the eye of those needing Jesus.
  4. This time of year also has some wonderful benefit from a prayer point of view. As folk are looking to set in to a “normal” routine, they will be open to becoming part of an intercessory prayer group.  September and October are great times to begin intercessory prayer groups.  Take advantage of the momentum and do not become discouraged that some may not keep coming over the long haul. If two or three of you gather, God will do great things.  You may even start a group that will only meet for a specified period of time. Our state and national elections in November provide an excellent opportunity for a short term group.

PRAYER NEEDS

1.      Pray for President Bush as he interacts in many crucial domestic and international issues.

2.      Pray that God will order world events in such a way that His Kingdom agenda will go forth with the greatest impact.  (Because we travel more, we have become aware of how international events can impact travel and missions.  Only God knows what will be best to advance His agenda).

3.      Pray for the mid term elections coming up in November.  Pray that God would sovereignly oversee elections so that His choice of candidates will win office.

4.      Pray that the church will come together in unprecedented ways for prayer and unified strategic ministry.

5.      Pray for Christian students, teachers, parents and administrators to have a great impact upon the schools and those who attend the schools.

6.      Pray that God would use Christian Schools and HomeSchooling to raise champions who will advance the Kingdom.

7.      Pray for Christians in the Marketplace to impact those around them. Let’s pray for opportunities to witness, for prayer groups and Bible studies to begin.  Perhaps God would even raise up mid week churches meeting in some business locations.

May God bless and use each of you.

August PA SPN Prayer Alert

I recently needed to quickly send some important signed documents to a friend in Asia.  I went to a company who specializes in quick deliveries.  They guaranteed me that my package would be delivered to the door in four days.  We live in a small world. Companies in one country have employees in other nations because of computers and satellite phones. Each day we are exposed the the events and beliefs of the world. Pennsylvania is no different. I told you in our last update that we spent time praying in northeastern PA concerning a group promoting New Age/Hinduism and mastermining the Sacred Link Conference, which seeks to unify the world's religions.
A few days later, the Harrisburg Patriot News ran a front page article on a Buddhist Center being established near Lewistown. The religions of the world are coming into our state.  Of course, our Constitution makes provision for this, but you and I are fighting for the souls of men and women.  We desire to see Christ's Kingdom advance in our region and around the world.  We don't want anyone to be deceived by that which is false.  Therefore, we must unite in strategic prayer so that the level of the Holy Spirit's activity becomes so high that "other religions" will not want to be in our state.
I have only mentioned two regions of our state.  Others, who live in other portions of our state, could tell you others stories about battles with cults and false religions.  Still others can tell of battles of other kinds such as abortion, same-sex marriage and gambling. Our churches must come together in united prayer (God may call to other activities such as social and political action, but the beginning point is to pray so we can hear God's voice relative to timing and strategy.) As we pray, God will reveal strategies and timing to us.  These strategies may seem strange like walking quietly around Jericho 13 times (Joshua 6) or sending the worship team out ahead of the army (2 Chronicles 20).
This is why we must seek the Lord. Only He knows the appropriate strategy.  Ony He knows when time is right.  We must do it together because the Lord promises to bless unity (Psalms 133, John 17, and Ephesians 3:14-20).  In addition, God promises to bless agreeing prayer (Matthew 18:18-20).
There is much more that could be said, but I believe that God wants to focus upon united strategic prayer.
    KEY PA PRAYER REQUESTS

  1. THE FALL ELECTIONS
  2. PRAY THAT MARRIAGE AMENDMENTS DEFINING MARRIAGE BETWEEN ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN WILL BE PASSED IN OUR STATE AND NATION
  3. PRAY THAT GOD'S PRESENCE WILL BE SO STRONG IN OUR REGIONS THAT NO OTHER SPIRITS WILL GET A FOOTHOLD( Let me say at this point that for this to happen, Christians must walk in holiness and unity.  Otherwise, we will have holes in our armor and be a house divided  against itself)
  4. PRAY FOR YOUR PASTOR AND THE PASTORS IN YOUR REGION

July PA Prayer Alert

Dear friends,

A great deal is happening in our state.  We are moving toward the fall elections with two key races:  The Governor’s race and the Senate race between Senator Rick Santorum and Bob Casey, Jr.  These and hundreds of other races will impact our state and nation.  Elections impact our nations in a couple of ways.  First, God desires His people to impact every strata of society.  He wants righteous people serving in political office.  As our government officials enact righteous laws and conduct “business” by righteous means, God can bless.  If officials enact unrighteous laws or conduct business in ways that are less than righteous, He cannot bless.  Secondly, as the people of God occupy positions of leadership, they can influence those around them for the Lord.  Let us pray that honest people with righteous views will be elected.  There are many issues related to righteousness that are at the forefront of our state and national politics in these days:  The definition of marriage, abortion, gambling and even issues concerning war.

Let us also pray that God will elect and appoint people to government office who have a vision to see people saved and the Kingdom of God come to their area of influence.

Let me also say that there are many believers who work in the various departments in the State Government (I am sometimes amazed at the number of believers.  God is up to something.) Let us pray that God will use them to influence leaders for righteousness and that they will touch the lives of those around them.

Continue to pray that God will overturn the gambling legislation so that we will not have more unrighteous activity in our state.

There are other key events occurring in our state. Kerry and I just returned from a weekend in the northeastern part of the State.  We participated in a 24 hour prayer event (Harp and Bowl and prayer walking) with people gathering to pray about the Himilayan Institute in Honesdale, PA.  The “institute” is based upon principles of Hinduism with yoga and false religious practices and idolatry.  The institute attracts students from many places in the US and has international impact.  The current leader has relationship with the Dalai Lama and militant Hindu leaders in India (Some militant Hindus in India desire to force Christians and Moslems, for that matter, to reconvert to Hinduism.)  In 2007, the Himilayan Institute will hold the Sacred Link Conference.  This conference was originally scheduled for Honesdale, PA. You prayed and it will now take place in India, which is close to our heart because we are scheduled to go back for the fifth time in October.  We have many great friends in India. The premise of Sacred Link is that all of us have an inner voice, called different things in different religions (by the way the Sacred Link’s webpage lists The Holy Spirit as one of the Names of this inner self L. ) The purpose is to bring all religions together for the purpose of peace.  This sounds like the Book of Revelation to me.

We must continue to pray that this influence will move from the world, and our state. Let us hold up the hands of those in the Northeast House of Prayer and folks from NJ and NY, who have joined together in this battle.

I know that there are other influences in the state that have similar impacts such as Freemasonry.  Those of you in various regions should engage in prayer as the Lord leads. Let me make some key suggestions to you.

1. As you begin praying, pray that those involved will come to Jesus.  This is the key request for anyone is it not?  The people are not our enemy, but captives of the enemy.

2. Warfare should only be against demonic forces in the earthly realm.  (Binding the demons who control or blind the individuals for whom we pray.)

3. Warfare in the heavenly realm should only occur when there is good unity of a good part of the Body of Christ in your region.  As the Church comes together, the Lord will raise up city elders (Some may call them apostles. I prefer elders because elders always carry governmental authority in Scripture.)  As these leaders pray and strategize together, the Lord of the Harvest may lead them to do a warfare assault.  This can then be done by a unified (doesn’t necessarily mean the whole Body, but certainly a good portion) Church together.  Please remember, on this line, that principalities are able to control an area because of certain sins.  When repentance comes, the power of these beings is weakened and eventually broken.  One thing that we can do immediately is to repent of any ways that we may participate in the sins that give control and pray and call the church to repentance.  For instance (I use this example because we hear so much about this spirit in our day), if leaders or intercessors perceives a spirit of Jezebel controlling a congregation or region, then those in the church convicted of engaging in manipulation and control should repent. It means that those who have allowed it (some call it an Ahab spirit) must stop facilitating the manipulation.  At this point, believers can pray for this influence stop in the region. It begins with us, if we have been involved.  I trust you get my idea.  It is important that we walk under authority and this is why we must pray that the Body come together.

Well, this has been a heavy email, but one that I believe is important.  We can see our cities and state change.  Prayer will be at the forefront of this change.  Kerry and I would love to minister in your church or to those in your region.  We would be happy to conduct any of the following:

1.       Prayer training and/or prayer events.

2.       Teaching and strategizing on unity (we would love to spend several days with leaders, first teaching and then leading in prayer seeking God’s strategy for the next steps.)

3.       Freedom Ministries

4.       Basic Discipleship to help expand the Kingdom.

5.       Missions.

6.       How Women Can Advance the Kingdom (obviously this would be Kerry, although I do have a heart for this as well.)

7.       The Kingdom of God

June PA Prayer Alert

Dear friends,

The Father told His Son, the Lord Jesus, to ask Him (the Father) for the nations (Psalms 2:8).  As He asked for the nations, He asked for the USA. Our state is part of the USA.  This ought to encourage us.  The State of Pennsylvania belongs to the Lord. He hungers to work in every aspect of the culture of our state.  This includes all the hotbed issues that we have been praying for in recent months:

Æ     The passing of legislation that would define marriage as between one man and one woman.

Æ     The removing of gaming from the state before it even gets started (I know this has already been passed, but let us continue to seek our miracle working God.)

Æ     Added to this, let us pray for individual communities where individuals are seeking to keep gaming from their cities.

Æ     State elections in the fall.  This will include the election of a Governor.

However, God desires to work in every aspect of our state.  He wants His rule to be felt in every part of our culture: Business, Criminal Justice, Education, Entertainment/Media, Government, Religious and Science/Health.  There are several key prayers that must be answered in order for this to happen:

Æ     The church must begin to walk together in covenant love.  We must begin to love, accept and respect members of the Body of Christ who are different than we are. We are all on a journey and each of us has part of the pie, but none of us has all of it. Therefore, we can learn from each other. In addition, when we begin to trust one another, we can trust the Lord to work through other parts of the Body as they fulfill their assignment and not feel like we must duplicate what they are doing (because they will not do it right because they are –fill in the blank concerning what kind of believer they are-).

Æ     The church must begin to understand that everyone must pursue their calling and that God calls people to be Mayors as well as pastors and missionaries.  As we take a look at the five-fold ministry, we understand that only a handful of people will be called to these equipping ministries.  We must also understand that five-fold ministers have been called for the purpose of equipping the ministers to do the work of the ministry.  This means that the ministers are those who govern, teach, collect garbage, fix cars and operate computers.  This makes sense does it not?  Most non-believers exist outside the four walls of the church building.  Therefore, let us encourage believers to pursue their call no matter what it may be.

Æ     Every member of Christ’s Body must commit themselves fully to Jesus and continue to gain more freedom so that they can more fully serve and glorify the Lord.   Individual believers and congregations will not fulfill the above two assignments unless they have first committed themselves fully to the task the Lord has given to His Body.  We needn’t fear that responsibilities will not be fulfilled if we do this. God is concerned about our families!  He is concerned about our day to day life!  He is concerned about our health!  These responsibilities have been laid out by the Lord. He will not have us follow Him to the neglect of His Word. It will all fit. Secondly, we must make sure that we are continually getting rid of the baggage in our life so we can more fully give ourselves away to the Lord.  This will involve getting victory over sin and habits that keep us from the Lord’s will.  It will involve gaining whatever type of deliverance we may need.  As we become freer, we are freer to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.

PRAY FOR EACH OF THE AREAS IN BOLD ABOVE!!!

I want to pass on some excerpts from an appeal made by Pastor Dutch Sheets calling us to increase our prayer for President Bush.

“In our partnering with God, to turn America back to its Christian heritage and God-given destiny, and to experience another great awakening that will impact every aspect of our culture and bring millions of people to Christ--we are at a great crossroads.”

“…an intense counter offensive has been orchestrated from Hell, to pull down President Bush and derail the destiny of America. This whirlwind of darkness over America is bringing great national confusion and is causing paralysis even in the praying church ... godly governmental leaders know things are in disarray and that something is desperately wrong, but they also say that nothing seems to work when it comes to reversing it. Spiritual leaders also know things are not right--that we have lost momentum and anti-Christ forces seem to be prevailing--but no one seems to know what to do about it.”

“…we are no longer dealing with flesh and blood in Iraq, but with "principalities and powers" (see Ephesians 6:12). They have entrapped our president, stolen his voice, and intend to completely destroy his effectiveness. Their ultimate goal is to steal his destiny--which is warring against terrorism and shifting the courts, especially the Supreme Court of America.”

“It is also quite likely, that if the third vacancy occurred on the Supreme Court now (and I believe it is coming soon), one of two things would happen. Either Bush would bow to the temptation to appoint a moderate, because of his weak position; or if he appointed a true conservative constitutionalist, like Roberts or Alito, the liberals would be empowered enough to stop the nomination through filibustering or character assassination.”

“If the praying church does not re-engage in informed, consistent and fervent intercession for our nation and president NOW, we will lose…”

These quotes indicate Pastor Dutch’s concern that we pray fervently for our President and the upcoming elections.  Pray for the President that he will fulfill his destiny.  Dutch encourages us to pray that the President will have an encounter with the Lord similar to Jacob.

Dutch concludes by saying:

“Our responsibility is to pray until it happens. If it does not, our president will not recover and America is in big trouble.”

Let us take up these marching orders and increase our efforts to pray for our president. Let us not fall into resign. JESUS IS LORD OF THE USA!!

Lastly, I would like to pass on to you a note from Nancy Miller who is the Southeastern PA Coordinator for the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem

prayingnancy@earthlink.net.

Hundreds of thousands of believers from over 150 nations will unite in prayer for the peace of Jerusalem on October 1, 2006.  Will you be one of them?  Why should you be one of them?  The primary reason to be part of this strategic global prayer initiative is because of the biblical mandate to do so in Psalm 122: 6. We are commanded to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem and we are promised that we will prosper if we do. Genesis 12:3 also reveals God’s promised blessings for those who bless the descendants of Abraham. There are many more reasons why it is critical that the church pray for the peace of Jerusalem in this hour.  Consider the fact that Zechariah 14:3 tells us that Jerusalem is the land to which our Lord will return.  As we see nations raging against the Lord and His Anointed, we discern the soon return of the King of Kings to the Mount of Olives to establish His Kingdom.  Our prayers usher in God’s purposes for that land and all her people and our prayers usher in the return of The Prince of Peace.  For these and many other reasons, the first Sunday of every October is being set aside by the church worldwide as the International Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem.  This united prayer initiative by believers of all denominations, races and regions is endorsed by over 700 ministry leaders in the body of Christ.  For complete details on how you can be involved, visit the website, www.daytopray.com.  Let the voice of The Church in the Keystone State bless God by being raised in one accord prayer for the peace of the city, land and people our Lord loves, His beloved Israel… and let those prayers produce God’s promised blessings upon the people of Pennsylvania.

There is much to pray about, but our God is a glorious God. HE IS VICTOR!!!

Pray for believers in Northeastern Pennsylvania who will be engaging in 24 hour prayer June 30 and July 1 in order to begin to take back their territory for the Lord. PRAY! PRAY! PRAY!  We will see the victory of the Lord!

PA SPN Prayer Alert March

Posted by John and Kerry 09:43 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (0) | Trackback Trackbacks (132) | PA Strategic Prayer Network

Dear friends,

God is good!!!  The circumstances around us may not always verify it, BUT God is good!!!  In addition, this good God has promised the nations to His Son (Psalms 2:8).  Our State is part of one of those nations.  He desires to touch our State.   There are a number of issues that we want to be praying about.

Unity of The Body

Yesterday, we came back from Staten Island, NY.  As we entered Pennsylvania, we saw our state advertising motto: “Pennsylvania, the State of Independence.”  Of course there are some real benefits to this.  It was in Philadelphia that the US declared its independence.  As believers, we want to be independent from the control of the enemy and any bondage that may be in our life.  However, when it comes to believers, individual congregations and denominational and apostolic networks independence is not so good.  It is so important that we come together in unity so that we can seek and serve the Lord together in every way that we can.

We must pray that God will help us to come together in love and acceptance in spike of the fact that we are different.  We must pray that God will help us to appreciate the differences that  exist between us and to realize that the differences are actually good in that we can touch a broader base of people  and  that our differing gifts will make a  larger  whole.

Spirit filled believers in places of influence

The Lord desires very much to have the yeast of the gospel penetrate every strata of our society.  Let us pray that God will raise up Spirit-filled leaders in government, education, healthcare, criminal justice, entertainment, media and the church who will bring such change that the Lord’s Kingdom will invade each area and fulfill its intended purpose.

Five - fold Ministers

Paul tells us that God has given apostles, prophets, evangelist, pastors and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry.  According to the passage this process of ministering to the Body, who then minister to one another leads to believers reaching the stature of the fullness of Christ and leads to the Body of Christ supplying to each other all that is needed.  This kind of mature, covenant-keeping Body will penetrate the darkness and establish the Kingdom of God. Let us pray for (not attach) those whom God has placed in leadership over us.

The Race for Governor

As all of us know, we will elect a governor this year.  This is a matter for prayer because the governor has an impact upon that climate of the State by setting the legislative agenda.  Therefore, let us pray for God’s choice to serve in this office and others throughout our state.

Marriage and Abortion

Many in our society would like to redefine marriage and/or allow for legal domestic covenants be made for those outside the traditional/Biblical definition.  A redefinition will have an impact upon our society in many ways.  It will mean a further deterioration of the family which is in trouble in our state.  It will mean a change in our schools because what is taught about family will change even more.  It will also mean a change in our heath care and costs.  There are legislators and organizations seeking to legally define marriage as between one man and one woman.  Let us pray that this type of legislation will pass in our state and others.

We should be encouraged by the recent changes of climate in various states over issues relating to abortion.  Let us continue to pray about both the abortion and family issues.  Let us also pray that ministries will emerge which will help mothers care for their children when they decide to keep them and when it is no longer legal to abort them.

Gambling

Even though the vast majority of school boards have voted not to take money from slot machines, companies continue to spend huge amounts of money making applications to host casinos.  We must band together with communities like Gettysburg and Bethlehem, who are seeking to keep casinos out of their regions.  We do not need the influences and devastation brought to families and territories by gambling.

On a positive note, a major world wide Buddhist/New Age event had been planned by leaders for the northeastern part of the State in 2007.  The event has been moved to India (I am not happy about this because we have been ministering regularly in India recently and they do not need any setbacks.  Recently nearly 1 Million people received Christ in India because of a Billy Graham TV special and cooperation from 61, 000 congregations.  The conversion rate has eclipsed the birth rate.  So pray for India).  However, it is an answer to pray concerning our State.  Kerry and I will be part of a meeting next week to continue to mobilize intercessors to continue to pray for this region and that God will overturn the influence of the New Age Institute.

Please remember the Harp and Bowl training coming up April 28-29 in Reading.  Contact Chad Eberly at

Kerry and I will be in Croatia and Slovenia April 11-24 doing prayer trainings and Prayer Strikes.  May God bless you.

If the churches in your region would like to host a regional prayer event in the Summer or Fall, contact us at john@kquestministries.org or call 717-968-0766.  Please note that this will be the only email up and running starting April 1.

PA SPN Prayer Alert April

It seems to me that the battle lines are being drawn like never before.  We have recently seen two conservative judges elected to the nation’s highest court and states are introducing bills concerning abortion and defining marriage as between one man and one woman so  that these cases will be heard in the Supreme Court, with the thought of overturning abortion law and establishing traditional family values.

On another front, Dan Brown’s The DaVinci Code*, which asserts that Jesus was married to Mary Magdelene, in a union which produced children and present day descendants, starring Tom Hanks will come out in May. On NBC’s Dateline, a gentleman is espousing that Jesus hung on the cross but did not really die (The old Passover Plot concept.) In our own state, the battle lines are drawn in many locations concerning whether casinos will be built in those locations. This comes at a time when the church has unified for prayer in unprecedented ways positioning the church for the greatest revival in decades.

We must be girded with our battle armor.  I am not talking about getting up in the morning and speaking my way through each piece like I am putting on cloths, but I am talking about appropriating every weapon that the Lord has provided for us.  The promise that Paul gave is that if we put on the full armor of God that we would stand “having done all.”   This means that as we do the will of God, we will engage the enemy.  If we appropriate what the Lord has provided for us, we will get to the end of the battle as a soldier with sword in the air enjoying victory  (See and study Ephesians 6:10-13).

In addition, we face a very important election in 2006.  Pennsylvania will elect a governor and we will elect a new House of Representatives.  The impact will be great. It is truly an exciting time to be alive.  We have the potential to effect change which will help to usher in the Kingdom of God.

Christians are also drawing lines in the sand.  I recently met with a group from northeastern Pennsylvania, southeastern New York and northwestern New Jersey.  They are beginning to meet to see what these three regions can do to usher the Kingdom into their region.  The event that brought these believers together was a world wide convergence, sponsored by the Himilayan Institute in Honesdale, PA.   The convergence will not take place in the US, but the group decided to meet in order to find ways to march together as an army of intercessors and  leaders  in that region.  Many of the leaders who attended participate in regional prayer efforts in their respective states.

This week, the PA Strategic Prayer Network will call together regional prayer leaders from 10 regions of the State to network and find ways to work together and increase our prayer efforts in the State of Pennsylvania. Let us pray that God will do an amazing job in knitting hearts and giving strategies either at the meeting or through the continuing relationships that develop.

Global Day of Prayer

God has provided a very special way for us to engage in prayer regionally.  On Global Day of Prayer, June 4, 2006, upwards of 200 million people in locations around the world will gather in prayer events in their cities to pray for their region, their nation and the world.   On a recent trip to India, a friend told me that they are planning for 100,000 people to gather for the GDoP event in Mumbai.  If there is not a GDoP planned near you, I encourage you to plan an event in your town. It is best if this is a joint effort of multiple churches and denominations so that it becomes a means of facilitating the unifying of the Body of Christ. I also encourage you to register at www.globaldayofprayer.com.  Leaders in Harrisburg, Lancaster and York are meeting to look at joint meeting in that region. I am also away of at least one GDoP scheduled for the Philly area.  If you let me know about your event, I will be glad to publicize it in the PA Prayer Alert.

I also want to mention that GDoP is more than a one day event.  The goal is to have 10 days of prayer leading up to the event and then outreach after the time of prayer.  (You can certainly do the event without the others but these increase the impact greatly.  See the web sight for details.)

Key Prayer Requests

1.      Pray that God would unify His church in each of the regions of our state.

2.      Pray that God would develop a powerful network of prayer networks in the State.

3.      Pray for the election of our governor and congress persons.

4.      Pray that God will raise up multiple regional houses of prayer throughout the State.

5.      Pray for the Unrelenting Prayer Seminar April 28-29. (See details below.)

6.      Pray for your pastor and the pastors in your region.

Announcements

1.      The Unrelenting Prayer Seminar, sponsored jointly by The Reading House of Prayer and the PA Strategic Prayer Network will be held at the Reading House of Prayer April 28-29.  Find details at www.rhop.net.

2.      The PA Strategic Prayer Network desires to engage in regional prayer events throughout the State in 2006. All you need to do is extend  an invitation at john@kquestministries.org or 717-968-0766, provide a place to have the meeting, provide a worship team from your  region (either from one local church or  a regional  group), and provide a love offering or  honorarium for the speakers and  prayer leaders.  The goal is to lead up to a state wide event in 2007.

May God bless you,

John

* A few years ago, a pastor recommended that I read the DaVinci Code in order to understand something of what we are battling in our day.  I am not necessarily saying that you should read it.  However, let me make a few observations.  First, it is extremely well written.  Dan Brown is a good writer.  Secondly, there is a tremendous amount of spiritual power manifesting as the book is read. I felt the need to engage is spiritual warfare in order to combat the lies of the enemy and the confusion that comes as one reads.  I personally believe the enemy is using the book to cause confusion and to cause doubt.  Reports are coming in telling of many people who have been confused by what they read.  The movie will touch many more lives.  I recommend that your churches be prepared.  Josh McDowell has written a book designed to be evangelistic, but addresses the flaws in the DaVinci Code and gives evidence to counteract.  You can get info on JOSH.ORG on packets that you can use to counteract this movie.  A pastor friend of mine is preaching on the subject and using it for an outreach.

Dear intercessors,

How we praise the Lord for each of you. You are making a difference!

God has His mind on the world

God has always had His mind on the world. We see it at the beginning when He told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply and subdue the earth (Gen. 1:26-28). Later, after He destroyed the earth, He commissioned Noah to scatter and fill the earth. We see God’s desire to reach the world throughout the OT. When He calls Abraham, He tells him to be a blessing to all nations (Genesis 12:1-3). When He tells the nation of Israel their purpose, He tells them that they are to make the other nations jealous (with the purpose of motivating those nations to become part of God’s covenant people – Deuteronomy 4:5-8). Isaiah discussed the Messiah telling us that “of the increase of His government their will be no end” (Isaiah 9:6-7). Jesus tells His followers to go and make disciples of the nations (Matthew 28:18-20). He also tells them that the message of repentance will be preached in the entire world (Luke 24: 40 ff.)

The Book of Revelation indicates that God’s desires will become reality because at the end of time there will be such a large harvest that they will not be counted (Revelation 7). Imagine, conversions coming so fast that computers cannot keep up with them. There will be millions of conversions, which will change entire cities and nations. JESUS WILL CONQUER!!

As intercessors, we will be part of this historic change in the state of the world. Nothing happens without prayer. Intercessors stand at the forefront as they nestle close to the heart of God and hear His heart for our personal lives, our congregations, our cities and our nations. As we hear the heart beat of God and hear His strategies, we pray His will into reality by praying that the church will become what it needs to be to fulfill God’s will and by praying that God’s Kingdom will come to our regions and nations just as He plans.

The genealogy laid out in Matthew 1 ought to give us the courage to go on and never give up. The first list of names begins with Abraham, who received God’s promise of world conquest. The second begins with David, whose descendant the Lord Jesus makes it possible to see the world come into relation with God. The third group of names comes after the Babylonian captivity. Many nations vanished when Babylon took them into captivity. Not so with Israel. God restored them because He sovereignly changes history so that He can fulfill His purpose of bringing the world under His benevolent control. NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER!

Unrelenting Prayer Conference went quite well.

April 28-29, the Reading House of Prayer (www.RHOP.net) and the PA SPN co-sponsored the Unrelenting Prayer Conference. The purpose of the conference was to train delegates to establish regional houses of prayer using Harp and Bowl. About 50 delegates attended from around the state. Hosts, Ken and Chad Eberly, did an excellent job of

training and demonstrating this great method of prayer.

If you were unable to attend but would like to get CD’s, you can contact Reading House of Prayer at the above web page and order them. They are $4 each or $25 for the set that includes a message by John Shuey, two by Ken Eberly and workshops by Chad Eberly, Kerry Shuey and John Shuey.

Key State wide Prayer Requests

  1. Pray about upcoming primary elections and fall elections. Pray that righteous leaders would be elected. Pray for the salvation of those running.
  2. Pray that the State Legislature would pass a marriage amendment that will clearly state that marriage is between one man and one woman.
  3. Pray that God will overturn the proposed casinos in our state. HE CAN DO IT!!
  4. Pray for a unified church in every region in our state.
  5. Pray for transformation in your region and every other region in our State.
  6. Pray for our brothers and sisters in Northeast PA as they continue to gather to pray about the existence of the Himalayan Institute in their region. They are unifying and seeking the Lord. Pray for protection and the Lord’s strategy.

Available for Ministry

John and/or Kerry Shuey are available for ministry. During the summer months they are available for many mid week services and Sundays. They will speak on a variety of topics relating to transformation: Discipleship, unity, deliverance, prayer and others. They are also available for conferences and seminars on all of the above topics. They would love to speak to community church leaders on unity and strategy and then spend time in prayer seeking God for His strategy for each region.

Global Day of Prayer

It is not too late to plan a Global Day of Prayer Meeting. GDoP is June 4. If you have an event, register at www.globaldayofprayer.org. In addition let us know and we will publish your event in our next email which we will send out early. I am aware of two events at this time.

  1. Victory Christian Fellowship in Trooper
  2. Harrisburg, York, LancasterContact Ephrata Community Church or Christ Community Church in Camp Hill, PA.

PA Prayer Alert

Dear Friends,

Much is happening in our world. Chaos is increasing in the Middle East with the illness of Ariel Sharon and pending elections in Israel and the recent victories by Hamas in Palestinian elections.  The peace efforts in the Middle East seemed doomed to come to a halt.   Iran’s recent announcement that they are developing its nuclear capabilities has added another spark to the powder keg, which includes the war in Iraq.

On the national front, we have increased threats from Osama bin Ladan and the heavily debated confirmation hearings of Judge Alito.

The State of Pennsylvania has had its share of drama with the recall of the legislative salary increase and subsequent failure of two sitting judges to be retained.  We are now moving into the time of primary elections for governor. While all of this is going on several legislators are seeking legislation that would ban gay marriage. There is much for us to pray about.

Let me add one key request for us to be praying about for the next year.  The Himilayan Institute located near Honesdale is planning a “celebration” in February 2007.  They have invited the dalai lama to attend.  The area has an impact upon PA, NJ and NY because it is located near each state line.

GOD STILL WANTS TO BRING HIS KINGDOM

In spite of this, the Lord still desires and plans to establish His Kingdom on earth.  As we have visited places around the world like Mumbai, Prague, Brataslava and Vienna and places around the state like Philadelphia, Washington, Reading and Harrisburg, we are convinced He can do it.  In fact, we see unsaved people seeking a kingdom in their own way.  We see politicians in Europe seeking to bring equality to people and get rid of poverty.  The communists desire to develop a utopia, where everyone receives equal and everyone willingly does what they have been gifted to do. Although we may not agree with all the efforts and methods (we certainly do not agree with the atheism and dictatorial methods of the communists, for example), we see that God has placed upon the hearts of people the desire to be part of a great Kingdom.  Jesus has come to bring that Kingdom.  His gospel is the gospel of the Kingdom.  This gospel contains the gospel of salvation, which includes forgiveness, healing, deliverance and heaven, but goes much further as these disciples of the Lord, push back the dark forces of Satan and establish the Kingdom of our Christ in every strata of our society.  We must become a unified church preaching this  wonderful gospel under the power of  the Holy Spirit to help them  see that Jesus is the answer to all  our personal and corporate yearnings.

PRAYER FOCUS

  • Pray for a unified church in  every part of Pennsylvania
  • Pray that God will have His choice of Governor for PA.
  • Pray that God will foil the efforts of Budhists in eastern PA.  Pray for their salvation.
  • Pray for God’s choice of the next Supreme Court Justice.
  • Pray that His Kingdom would be established over all the earth.
  • Pray for the salvation of Governor Ed Rendell and other political figures in our state.
  • Pray that we would have an amendment to make gay marriage illegal.  Pray for the efforts of groups  like the PA Family Institute.

PA SPN  NEWS

  • Regional Prayer Retreat in North East, Pa – January 27-29 – Dickson City AG.
  • Regional Prayer Training and Intercessory Meeting – Washington, PA – February 3-5  Covenant Life Church  724-228-3627
  • Regional Prayer Training – April 28-29 in Reading.  The Focus will be training and networking for those engaged in or desiring to start a Regional House of Prayer.  Speakers will be John Shuey and Ken Eberly from the Reading House of Prayer.   Details will be forthcoming.
  • We are looking for locations for these regional prayer events for the Fall of 2006.  These events will culminate in a state wide prayer event in the Spring of 2007.   If you would be interested in hosting such an event let us know.  The purpose of these events is to include as many churches from your region as possible.  The best hosts for these events will be those who participate in a network of churches and prayer groups who will be able to invite those from your region.  We would really love to come to Pittsburg, Philly, Erie and Williamsport.  If you live in these areas and would like to talk, please give a call. My phone number is 717-968-0766 or  email at john@kquestministries.org
  • We are very much interested in engaging in meetings with pastors and leaders to move toward the kind of unity that will bring transformation. These meetings would revolve around discussions of covenant, discovering and working with regional leadership, the helping of individuals and congregations finding their place of service in a unified regional move.  The teaching would be accompanied with times of prayer and strategizing in meetings that are a bit longer in duration like a two to three day pastor’s retreat.  Pastor’s meetings can be done during the week.

We are looking forward to advancing His Kingdom in 2006. Perhaps we can join can join together.

Strategic Events

God has been leading in events that have been very strategic.  We have asked the Lord to send  us into locations that would allow us to have ongoing relationships.  At the end of June, we will go to North Eastern Pennsylvania for the third time this year.  God has raised  up the North East House of Prayer to stimulate worship and prayer throughout the region. They have a board of leaders from throughout the region and meet monthly (moving toward 24/7) for worship and intercession.  Recently, they have begun meeting monthly to discuss prayer for some strategic issues that impact the tri-state area.  Leaders from NY, NJ and PA have begun to meet to work together in intercession.
We have also been to Washington, PA for a second time in February and will go to Gettysburg for the third time in December.  This kind of ongoing ministry enables us to partner on a greater level with local leaders to allow us to serve better.
We are very interested in going to a number of regions to be of assistance for a one time ministry or ongoing, if the Lord leads that way. Please getin contact with us if you believe we can assist in any way.

January Prayer Alert

2005 has been an interesting year. We have been praying about the Supreme Court and have seen a new Chief Justice confirmed. Within the first months of 2006, a judge should be confirmed to replace Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. We must continue to pray that this process will go as the Lord desires it to go.

In the State of Pennsylvania, we have been seeking the Lord concerning a couple of key issues. The first related to gambling. Although increased gambling increased, it took many more months to complete than anticipated. I believe it illustrates that our prayers are having an impact. In addition to that, 80% of the school districts, who were to benefit from gambling funds refused to accept the gambling monies. We are now experiencing battles in specific locations concerning where the casinos will be located and who will run them. Communities like Gettysburg, Bethlehem, the Pocono’s, Philadelphia and others are battling to keep the casinos and all that comes with them out of their regions. On the surface, it seems that we have lost this battle, but we must not give up. IF ANY TWO OF YOU SHALL AGREE CONCERNING ANYTHING, I WILL DO IT!!! Let us not give up. Let’s keep praying that God will keep more gambling out of our state.

On a national level, we have been fighting battles concerning same-s e x marriage. According to the PA Family Institute this battle will begin to heat up in Pennsylvania. We serve a mighty God. He desires that people walk according to His righteous laws because that is what brings the greatest fulfillment to those who live by them.

I believe that the unity of the Body of Christ continues to be the single greatest challenge to seeing revival come to our state and nation. Unity is assaulted on numerous fronts. In many of our cities and regions, we fight strong ethnic division started decades ago. In addition, we battle denominational and theological issues. When we couple this with the fact that we are extremely busy keeping our own ministries functioning and we see that we have major difficulties in walking in unity. However, it will be out of unity that we will see God do "immeasurably more than we ask or imagine." If we are willing to set aside our own agenda and join together with believers of all kinds we will accomplish "everything our heart is set on doing." For us as believers, we desire to see His Kingdom come in great power to our cities and our state.

God has been showing me of late that there is hard work in making this unity happen. We must enter into covenant with those God calls us to so that each of our churches and organizations will be connected in covenant with others. As we connect in this way, we will become the Ezekiel 37 army connected bone to bone with Jesus at the head leading the charge.

PA SPN activities in 2005

  • Prayer Trainings in Wilkes Barre, Canton and Philadelphia
  • Convocations I and II. We held two gatherings of prayer leaders from around the State in 2005. These gatherings were small but were very helpful in developing relationships and for great prayer.
  • Kerry and I have left our staff position so that we can give more time to the ministry in the State of Pennsylvania. (We are available for Prayer Training and Consultations, Unity Meetings and Consultations and City Reaching Consultations.) If we can serve you, we would be happy to do so.

PRAYER REQUESTS

  • Pray that we as God’s people would go much deeper in our walk with the Lord in 2005. It is the increase in the genuinely spiritual that will stem the tide of the unrighteousness abounding in our state.
  • Pray that the church in PA would come together in greater unity than ever before. We must do this. It is a tough thing to do, but we will not see change unless we do.
  • Pray that God will have the Supreme Court of His choice.
  • Pray that God would fill the entire national court system with judges of His choice.
  • Pray that President Bush will grow in his walk with the Lord. Pray that He will have wisdom as he seeks to lead our nation.
  • Pray that national, state and local government officials will write and enact laws that are righteous.

Let us determine to live more fully for the Lord in 2006. We have a Kingdom to advance.

Dear friends,

Our God is so good!  He is amazing and He is Lord of all.  The writer of Hebrews tells us that Jesus ever lives to make intercession for us (Hebrews

7:25).  I have always taught that this means that Jesus in continually praying for us so that our needs will be met and so that we will fulfill all that He has for us.  THIS IS TRUE!  In Exodus, the high priest wore a breast piece with gems signifying the tribes of Israel attached.  This indicates that the priest carries the people of Israel on his heart into the presence of God.  So our High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ, carries us upon His heart into the presence of His Father.

However, the entire Book of Hebrews paints another side of Jesus "ever living to make intercession for us." The readers of this letter had at one time been on the cutting edge of obedience to the Lord.  They identified with those imprisoned for their faith and obeyed Jesus with all the gusto that they had.  However, it appears that they were backing off from their "cutting edge" Christianity.  Paul wrote this letter to encourage them to go after Jesus in radical fashion.  He told them that we have a great cloud of witness (the "Hall of Faith" in Hebrews 11) who risked everything in order to follow the Lord.  Most of them died never seeing the fulfillment of the promise of God, but they went to their grave believing it would happen.  The promises they believed for did occur, just not in their life time.  So Paul says, "go for it." The encouragement that Paul gives to his readers is this: no matter what you do, Jesus can help.  He lived with all the temptations that you live with, yet without sin.  He learned to obey by experiencing suffering.  Yet with all of this, He fulfilled all the purposes of God.  Paul tells us that this victorious Christ is our High Priest.  He is able to help us.  He says, whatever you need, whenever you need it, you can go to Him because He lives to assist us as we seek to follow Him.

Remember, it is this High Priest, the One who ever lives to make intercession for us, that is there to help us.  You can almost see Jesus sitting at the right hand of God leaning to the front of the throne waiting for one of His brothers or sisters to ask for assistance.  He is ready to come to our aid and intercede for us to the Father.

Jesus is watching us.  He is waiting for us to ask Him to help us to do what we cannot do on our own.  He is waiting to supply our financial, emotional and spiritual needs so that we can fulfill His purposes.  He is ready to come to our rescue and supply all the grace we need to walk in victory and walk in anointing.

Each of us has been asked to engage in Kingdom work.  In many cases we have been asked to get out of the boat and minister in ways that are way out of our comfort zone.  HE IS READY TO HELP!  HE WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO ENABLE US TO FULFILL HIS PURPOSES!  So let us go for it.  Let us seek to do all that God is calling us to do.  Faithful is He who called us who will also do it.  Hallelujah!!  Hallelujah!  What a Savior!!

We are facing crucial issues in Pennsylvania.  Various places are seeking licensing for slot machines.  LET US PRAY THAT GOD SOMEHOW PUTS A STOP TO THIS AND OTHER FORMS OF GAMBLING IN OUR STATE!!

There are continual battles in our state and nation that relate to abortion and same-sex marriage.  Jesus is leaning over waiting for us to ask that He put a stop to such things but also support those who are taking up these causes as their ministry.  LET US PRAY FOR ORGANIZATIONS LIKE THE PA FAMILY INSTITUTE AND COUNTLESS PREGNANCY CENTERS WHO ARE DOING ALL THEY CAN TO STOP ABORTION AND OTHER ISSUES THAT RELATE TO IMMORALITY.  LET US PRAY FOR RIGHTEOUS LEGISLATORS AND JUSTICES TO TAKE A STAND!  JESUS IS LOOKING FROM THE THRONE TO ASSIST THEM.

LET US PRAY THAT GOD LEADS PRESIDENT BUSH IN THE SELECTING OF A SUPREME COURT JUSTICE TO REPLACE SANDRA DAY O'CONNOR.  LET'S PRAY THAT GOD MIGHT USE THE COURT TO TURN JUDGEMENT AWAY FROM OUR NATION.

In addition to the above, we so desperately need to see the Body of Christ in the regions of our State come together.  LET'S PRAY THAT WE CAN PUT OUR PETTY DIFFERENCES ASIDE (And let me say that they are petty compared to seeing Jesus gain His rightful inheritance of the nations and seeing Him glorified as He deserves).  All of our distinctives pale by comparison to these.  Besides, who ever said we can't walk in unity and be who we are.  In real unity, we have much diversity working together to form a complete Body.

(O, HOW BURDENED KERRY AND I ARE ABOUT THIS ISSUE.  IF WE CAN BE OF ANY HELP TO YOUR REGIONS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE OF UNITY, PLEASE LET US KNOW.)

PRAY THAT GOD WOULD BREAK DOWN THE WALLS THAT DIVIDE US AND SHOW US HOW WE CAN WORK TOGETHER.  (The gifts of the Spirit passages are true for congregations as well as individuals within one local congregation).

OTHER PRAYER REQUESTS

1.  Pray for our governor and legislature as well as your local government that they would enact righteous legislation and that those who don't know the Lord would come to know Him.

2.  Pray for recognized regional church leadership to be raised up in each of the regions of our state so the Body might follow them into battle.

3.  Pray that PA SPN's strategy board would come into contact with like-minded persons from each region of the State to partner with us in strategizing to help win this State for Jesus.

CONVOCTION II Convocation II is coming up November 11-12.  It will be held at Christ Community Church in Camp Hill, PA.  The theme is "Prayer and City Reaching".

The cost is $25 and includes Saturday's lunch.  It will include teaching, prayer, worship and networking.  I will be speaking as well as Michael Geer from the PA Family Institute and Karen Bodle from Operation Outcry.

Dear friends,

Kerry and I just returned from a trip to India.  We had an incredible time there leading the second module of their College of Prayer and participating in two additional conferences.  During most of our days there, the Hindus were celebrating a festival to one of their gods, "Ganesh".  They had celebrations leading up to the grand finality when thousands of plaster paris idols were dumped in bodies of water all over India.  It was tragic to see so many people worship and celebrating a "god" who does not exist and the demon behind it who only wants to bring greater bondage.

This may seem too sophisticated to those of us who live in the US, but we too have idols that we serve: rugged individualism, which hinders unity in the church, materialism and hedonism, dependence upon our ingenuity to solve every problem and the list could go on.  We too need the Lord to do a powerful work.

It is encouraging to note that the greatest revival of all time is yet to come (see Revelation 7).  I want to be part of seeing this move of God take place.  I only want to be part of the kind of prayer that will be part of the process of seeing God's Kingdom come to our cities.  For this reason, I have been asking the Lord to show the kind of prayer that will assist in this process.  I believe He is revealing some of the answers.

One key that He is showing me: the kind of intercession that will be part of the bringing of the Kingdom will not be intercession that is an end in itself.  It will be intercession that is part of a strategy of city leaders to win the region.

I believe this kind of movement will be overseen by city elders (apostles if you like).  The process will be two fold: displacing the enemy and occupying the territory.

When the enemy has been displaced, the evangelist can move in and see many come to Jesus.  The pastors will pastor them and teachers will help them build a Biblical foundation and help them move into their destiny.  The destiny of the people of God involves every strata of society.  God will set His disciples in the church and in government.  On mission and in business (as we recently saw in India, God will want to raise up politicians to enact just laws and business people to create jobs for those in poverty.) God will want disciples in education and the media.  He wants to take over every part of society.  As we plant churches and them plant people, we will occupy more and more territory.  When we reach a certain level, we will experience the Kingdom to a great degree.  The righteous reign of Christ will be in full focus.

November 11-12, PA SPN is sponsoring Convocation Two: City Reaching and Prayer.  The purpose is to provide prayer and training.  This time convocation is for pastors and regional church leaders as well as intercessors.  We also want you to know that we will schedule time for networking which could become a key element.  We want to be an encouragement to one another and we desire to be able to call upon others who may be able to help us where we are in seeking to bring transformation to our regions.

Registration will be $25 (the increase is to help give a gift to our guest speakers).  You may register by calling Apryl Bivens at 717-761-2933 x120 or email at apryl.bivens@christcc.org.  You will be considered registered when we receive your registration fee.

We will be sending brochures out in the next week.  If you would like to receive one or have someone you would like to receive one, please email the information to Apryl.

Joining us is Michael Geer from the PA Family Institute to talk about gambling in the state and the goal to bring same-sex marriage.  Also, Karen Bodle, who coordinates prayer efforts with Operation Outcry.

We will end the day Saturday hearing about these issues and praying that the righteousness of God will come and reign in our state.I am also interested in exploring the city reaching principles with leaders in various regions.  This can be in seminar form or in consulting.  We want to see regions taken for the Lord.  HE DESIRES TO

BRING SALVATION AND HIS KINGDOM TO EACH OF THE AREAS OF OUR STATE!!!

KEY PRAYER AREAS IN THE STATE

1.  Pray for a unity in the church of the regions of our state that will usher in the Kingdom.

2.  Pray for effective leadership to emerge in our regions that will develop strategies to win these cities and regions for Jesus.

3.  Pray for Gov Ed Rendell and our state legislators to enact just legislation.  Pray for their salvation.

4.  Pray that God's choices for Supreme Court Justices would be appointed and ratified.

5.  Pray that God would have mercy on those impacted by natural disasters in recent months.

6.  Pray for the Kingdom to come in our state, nation and world.

7.  Pray for the PA SPN strategy board as we seek to hear God's voice for this ministry and the ways in which we can best serve the Body of Christ in PA.

8.  Pray for Kerry and I as we launch full time into our Kingdom Quest Ministry (Training nationals in prayer and ministry as we travel overseas and helping to facilitate prayer and city reaching in the US.)

Dear Intercessor,
God is so very good. He is moving all over the world and He is moving in our state. On March 19, over 30 regional prayer leaders from eleven regions of the state and representing at least fourteen networks met for worship, fellowship, prayer and strategizing at Convocation 2005. The response from those who attended has been wonderful. We made much time to fellowship during the day. In many respects this seemed to be the highlight of the day as intercessors and prayer leaders encouraged one another and networked. One of the purposes of Convocation was to determine if there are any ways that God wants us to work together. We came to two conclusions:
      1. We believe that for all Pennsylvanians that Harrisburg is our city because our state government is housed there. Therefore, we are going to try to have one church praying at the capitol and in Harrisburg each week. We will supply prayer guides from PA SPN for those groups who go. If a group from your church would be interested in coming to Harrisburg one or two times per year to pray, please email us at PA SPN with the name of your church, a contact person [including email and phone number] and weeks that may work for you.
      2. We also decided that we would meet twice per year as leaders of regional networks. We will let you know potential dates. At this point we are looking at November 4-5. Friday evening will be a time for worship and prayer and then we will meet from 9-4 on Saturday. We will leave time for networking in the schedule. If you have any thoughts on what would be helpful to do that day for your group, let us know. Our Strategy Committee will make the final decision but your input is helpful. We can host the meeting at the same location in Camp Hill, however, if you have a facility in easy access for those around the state with hotels and restaurants, we would consider a different location. Host churches would need to be able to supply a worship team for a Harp and Bowl type of meeting on Friday evening and for the opening of morning and afternoon sessions on Saturday as well as care for details of a catered lunch or provide a lunch, which would be paid for out of registrations. If you are interested, please contact us here.
We may schedule you for this year or next.
Our first intercessory prayer-training seminar will be held April 15-16 at Back Mountain Harvest AG church in Trucksville, PA (Scanton/Wilkes-Barre area.) The contact person is Judy Jordan and can be reached at 570-883-9924. The meetings will include worship and preaching on Friday evening to set the tone for the weekend and then practical workshops on Saturday morning and actual practice (ministry) in those areas in the afternoon.
We will also have an intercessory training at Clarion Evangelical
Congregational Church in Shippensville, PA October 7-8. Presenters for both events will be John and Kerry Shuey from the PA Strategic Prayer Network and Ken Eberly from the Reading House of Prayer.
As you may remember the purpose for these events is two-fold. First, we desire to train intercessors to be more effective in their own churches and region. Secondly, we desire to recruit an army of commandoes who will be ready to move into various regions of the state, at the invitation of local leadership to assist with prayer and spiritual warfare. (Each person on the commando team will need to fill out an application and have their pastor recommend and release them by filling out a recommendation form.)
TEACHING
Let me take the teaching time to explain why PA SPN has determined to go into areas where we are invited. When Israel entered the Promised Land, God gave the whole nation to them but then gave each tribe its inheritance where it was to displace the enemy and occupy the land. God has given each of us a place of ministry. We have authority in that place. Paul demonstrates his understanding of this principle when he said, "We, however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the field God has assigned to us." (2 Corinthians 10:13).
We believe that God has given the authority for our villages, our cities and our regions of our state to the local church leadership in that place.
Out of that, He raises up leaders; some may want to call them city elders, others may be comfortable with the title “apostle” but it is they who will lead the ministry in that area. Ministries like PA SPN exist to serve the Body of Christ. As local church leaders detect the need for the kind of ministry that PA SPN can provide, we can go in at their invitation and walk with them and walk in authority conferred upon us by them. In other words, they can deputize us for that specific ministry.
We exist to serve the local church, which has been charged with the task of bringing transformation to her region.
KEY PRAYER REQUESTS
      1. Pray Terri Schaivo and the situation that this represents.
      2. Pray that abortion and all kind of death will be turned back.
      3. Pray that the slot machines will never go into effect in PA. Pray for School Boards who are resisting and for the PA Family Institute that is bringing litigation to stop slots.
      4. Pray for genuine unity among the churches of each region.
      5. Pray for God to raise up local apostolic (city elders) in each region.
      6. Pray for the salvation of Governor Ed Rendell, his staff, State Legislators and local government officials.
      7. Pray that God would give His Church wisdom concerning how we might see transformation come to our state.
      8. Pray that we would take our role as "the seed of a nation" and that the seek we would plant will be the Word of God, holiness and righteous, giving and a desire to fulfill our God-ordained destinies.

Dear Friends,
It has not been that terribly long since I wrote, but it seems like it. I was privileged to teach in Slovakia, I actually saw the castle in Brataslava where Presidents Bush and Putin met a week ago.
Then, Kerry and I had the privilege of ministering in two locations in India. During the first week, we ministered the first College of Prayer in India. (The College of Prayer meets three times a year in the US. The purpose is to train pastors, leaders and intercessors in the kind of prayer that will change congregations and bring transformation in regions.
Students attend the seminars, read books and write reflection papers. They graduate in nine modules. For more information visit their web page at www.collegeofprayer.org. It is worth the trip to Georgia. COP is now in the US, Canada, Norway, Cote d'Ivoire, West Africa and India.)
At the first Module in India, 125 people from Assemblies of God, Baptist and Nazarene and other denominations attended and they were hungry. During the time, some received calls to ministry and others held the call of God to specific ministries. Our goal is to see greater and more effective prayer on the local level so that God will change the face of India. Thousands are being saved in this great nation. Believers are paying a great price to see the gospel go forth. HOWEVER, JESUS IS LORD OF THAT NATION AS HE IS WITH ALL OTHERS. WE DESIRE TO SEE HIS MANIFEST PRESENCE AND LORDSHIP RULE OVER THE NATION.
God also has much He wants to do in our nation and state. We will get to some key requests in a little while. First, let me share from the Word.
TEACHING
God makes a startling promise in Isaiah 54. He says that the barren women will rejoice and then tells them to expand their tent pegs. In other words, the Lord is telling families without children to add a nursery to the house.
Later, the Lord indicates that the sons of these barren women will bring revival and possess the cities of the enemy.
I believe God is speaking this word to many in our day. Many have been hidden, almost without fruit in ministry, praying and studying the word of God. The Lord has been forming these faithful servants (see Isaiah 49) and is ready to use them in a special way. BE EXPECTANT!!! God is on the move and wants to use you in ways that you have never imagined. He wants to extend the tent pegs of ministry in Pennsylvania. He wants to see His Kingdom come to the cities of our State.
Our desire is to raise up a team of intercessors that can come into various parts of the state to assist in weekend prayer blitzes. In order for this to happen, we want to have regional prayer events throughout the state.
Currently two are planned:
Back Mountain Harvest Assembly in the Wilkes Barre areas April 16-17.
Clarian Evangelical Congregational Church in Shippensville Oct. 7-8
Our team would love to do two or three more. If your region is interested, contact me at the email address above or call 717-761-2933.
We will bring one or two others from out team with us. The weekends will have this format:
      Friday evening-Worship and Preaching
Saturday AM- Three workshops. Those attending will choose one which will last the entire morning.
Saturday PM from 1-3 Attendees will apply what they learned in the morning.
      Saturday 3-4 Closing session.
We have a two-fold purpose in these events:
      1. First and foremost, to train intercessors for their congregations and
regions.
      2. Out of the larger groups we desire to choose some recommended and approved by their pastors to be part of a team that will travel to different parts of the state, at the invitation of local leaders, to be part of prayer blitzes.
SOME KEY PRAYER AREAS
      1. The PA Family Institute has filed suit to try to stop the slot machines.
The PA Supreme Court has agreed to hear their suit and they have expedited it. Oral arguments begin March 9. Please be in prayer and get as many as you can to pray. You may want to let them know you are praying. (mail@pafamily.org)
      2. Pray for Governor Ed Rendell. Pray for wisdom and pray that he would come to know Jesus.
      3. Pray for your city officials. Pray also that God would raise up committed Christians called to public service who will stand for righteousness.
      4. Pray for PA SPN that God would direct us in our ministry. Pray for:
CONVOCTION 2005 - This event is March 19. It is for leaders of regional prayer networks: Pastors Networks, Intercessory Networks, Regional Harp and Bowl and House of Prayer teams and the like. We desire to find ways to work together and to network. (Registrations are coming in slow. Pray that God brings everyone He desires.)
Pray for our regional prayer trainings (discussed above).
Pray for key contacts to network with around the state.
We hope to see some of you at Convocation. If you have any questions call Apryl at 717-761-2933 or email her at apryl.bivens@christcc.org
Pray for your city, pray for the state and prayer for our nation. A great world-wide revival is coming. WE WILL BRING IT BY PRAYER.

Dear friends,
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THAT GOD CANNOT DO!!! THERE IS NOTHING THAT HE WILL NOT DO IN RESPONSE TO FAITH-FILLED PRAYER!!! He wants to see His Kingdom come to every strata of our state and our nation. By this, I mean that God not only wants to touch the lives of individuals, but He also desires to take control of our culture. Imagine what culture would be like if we as humans would allow Him to fully control the church, the government, business, industry and entertainment. What if we would allow Him to control law enforcement, medicine and education? We would see much redemptive coming from each of these important aspects of our society. I BELIEVE HE DESIRES TO DO THIS!! He desires to touch the lives of people who work in and control each of these important sectors of our society. As these saved and sanctified individuals team up with others like themselves to allow God to be gloried in their field of endeavor, the Lord will control each of them and will use each one to make the world a better place to live.
I am encouraged that we are headed toward a wonderful move of God. My encouragement does not come from what I read in the newspaper or in what I see on the national news. My encouragement comes from the fact that thousands seek the Lord in prayer and in worship. When God sets His people to praying, He is up to something. All over the world, God is calling His people to pray. From 24/7 prayer gatherings to Harp and Bowl meetings, God is calling city after city to expand the corporate prayer. Much of this is cross-denominational.
Lancaster and Reading have established houses of prayer. State College is establishing a prayer house. There are powerful harp and bowl meetings in the northern tier of the state. Over 30 pastors prayer meetings take place in the capital region.
This only begins to tell what is going on in the state from places like Wilkes-Barre to Washington, PA and from Pittsburg to Philadelphia. GOD IS CALLING HIS PEOPLE TO PRAYER!
Each of you has been praying in your part of the state. God is up to something. Let us be encouraged by what we see. Let the fact that, thousands of others have taken up this challenge to believe God for society transforming revival, strengthen you to go on as you seek the Lord to come in mighty power. Let us not be weary in well doing for in due time we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.
TEACHING - I have recently been challenged by God to ask Him to make His truth reality in the depth of my being. (Some folks call this revelation.
Revelation is not new information-the bible is what we need. Rather, revelation comes when our theology gets out of the realm of the theoretical, becoming so ingrained in the depth of our being that the truths become the reality by which we live.)
Paul prayed that the Ephesians would have a spirit of wisdom and
revelation. He wanted the truths of God's provisions to be so real to them that it would change the way they lived (Ephesians 1:15-23). We also need this. We don't want to be guilty of knowing all the right things but fail to have these teachings change the way that we live. A good glimpse of the awesome power of the Lord will melt every doubt we have about anything. He is so much bigger than whatever we face. A good glimpse of the love of God will melt all of our fear, because perfect love casts out fear. We need to see Him and His provision so that we can do the supernatural works that He has asked us to do like winning the lost, teaching the Word of God in such a way that lives are changed, praying for the sick with results and bringing transformation to the nations.
Let us make 2005 at year to seek God in His Word. If you have never read the Bible through, why not do it this year? If you read three chapters per day you can finish in about a year.
As you read, ask the Lord to stamp truth on our inner man (the human spirit) in such a way that our lives will never be the same. He wants us to win supernatural victories.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. March 19th: PA Strategic Prayer Network is hosting a Convocation for Regional Prayer Network Leaders at Christ Community Church in Camp Hill, PA. The meeting will be from 9 AM until 4 PM. This convocation is for leaders of prayer efforts that include multiple congregations. We are asking that only 2 or 3 persons from each group attend so that we can keep the numbers low enough that we can network and discuss how we can work together. The day will include teaching and prayer, but will really focus upon getting to know one another and discussing how we can work together. The cost will be $15 per person and includes lunch. You may register by emailing or calling Apryl Bivens at apryl.bivens@christcc.org or 717-761-2933. If you would like to receive one of the brochures or know of a prayer leader that should receive a brochure, email Apryl with the name and mailing address.
For those who can come early, there will be a night of worship and intercession for the State of Pennsylvania on Friday evening, March 18 at CCC from 7 PM -9 or 9:30 PM. This event will be open to anyone who would like to come; regional prayer leaders and intercessors alike.
Please pass this information on to other regional prayer leaders in the state. This would include leaders of Pastor's Prayer Network as well as other intercessory groups. AS I MENTIONED BEFORE, WE DO WANT TO LIMIT THIS TO LEADERS OF MOVEMENTS THAT INVOLVE MULTIPLE CHURCHES.
2. The PA SPN team would love to come to your region to do intercessor
trainings in 2005. We would love for these to be gatherings of more than one church. We would also like to invite folks to attend your meeting. We have two purposes for these events:
      a. To equip the intercessors in your region.
      b. To recruit a group of people from those who attend these meetings who will be part of a team who travel with us to different parts of the state to assist the local church there by prayer. Please note that we will only go to areas to prayer where local leadership has invited us. Secondly, those who will be part of the state-wide team will be added to our team with the permission and recommendation of their local pastor.
3. We invite you all to participate in the Global Day of Prayer (GDOP).
This day is May 15, 2005 (Pentecost Sunday.) GDOP has four objectives:
      1. To have a regional event for three hours on May 15. Regions in many nations will be participating in this event. This can be done in a stadium or any other large venue. A neutral cite is good because we want a broad representation of the Body of Christ to be involved.
      2. 24 Hour prayer from May 6-15. This can be done as 10 churches in your region sign up to cover a 24 hour period of time. (Or 4 small churches could take a day. For best results, have folks come to the church, or a common location, for this prayer.
      3. 90 Days of blessing in your community beginning May 16. It could be cleaning up a park or painting an inner city school building. It could be 40 VBS meetings around the city. Each region will determine how they can best serve their community.
      4. To move toward 24 hour prayer for the year between Pentecost Sunday 2005 and 2006. If 31 churches or groups could prayer 24 hours on day per month we would have it. This 24 hour prayer could be one person praying for 30 minutes or an hour or it could be groups or a combination of different expressions of prayer. If you don't get the monthly calendar completely filled up, you will be doing more than now.
CAN YOU IMAGINE THE IMPACT OF 24 HOUR PRAYER FOR ONE YEAR GOING ON ALL OVER THE WORLD?
STATE PRAYER NEEDS
1. Pray for the Salvation of Governor Ed Rendell, his cabinet, the
legislature and the state judiciary, and pray that these leaders will lead with righteousness.
2. Pray the same for the leaders in your city and region. Let's pray that God will raise up a righteous governmental and judiciary covering over our state.
3. Let us pray for the overturning of abortion laws in our country.
4. Let us pray for true unity in the Body of Christ in our state. Let us pray that we will be so focused upon seeing the Lord glorified in our state that no one will care who gets credit for effective ministry. IT IS JESUS WHO DOES EFFECTIVE MINISTRY, IS IT NOT? Let us pray that we would be able to determine what are the truly foundational teachings of the Scripture so we can work with all others who hold those same key beliefs. Let's pray that the church will not be divided over minor doctrinal issues and styles of ministry. WE MUST WORK TOGETHER!!! THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS (The principalities etc) WORK IN UNITY. The promises of God come to the unified (Ps 133. John 17 and Ephesians 3:14-20)
5. Pray for the Network Leaders' Convocation March 18-19 that everyone who is to come would be there and that we would effectively lock arms to pray the Kingdom into our State.
6. Pray that 100's of millions will participate in the GDOP around the world (20 million participated in Transformation Africa last year.)
May God bring rich blessing to you and use you in mighty ways in 2005.
